DESCRIPTION

The Strategic Design Leader will lead the graphic design team in the HR Communications practice by providing guidance and strategy. In addition, this person will be responsible for brand management and the creative direction for all client work. This is a client-facing role in a consulting environment, and requires knowledge of HR communications and education specifically related to employee benefits plans and programs.

DUTIES

  • Delivers top-notch HR communications consulting services and graphic design to assigned clients, meeting client expectations, and making sure that appropriate invoices are prepared on a timely basis
  • Determines roles and responsibilities within the graphic design team and makes sure the team has the best resources and technical knowledge to deliver competitive services in the marketplace
  • Responsible for quality and timely delivery of all projects flowing through the graphic design team from conceptualization to execution
  • Manages pricing estimates and project schedules for delivery of design projects within HR Communications. Clearly communicates assumptions, expectations, and parameters for pricing estimates and manages client expectations to meet budgets
  • Brings latest design trends and technical innovations across all platforms
  • Works with the HR Communications Leader and Sales/Marketing teams to develop new product offerings
  • Works with the HR Communications Leader and Sales/Marketing on new business development and sales support
  • Displays a positive attitude, facilitates team work, and represents values and strategic direction of Milliman's senior management to team members, other Milliman colleagues, and to clients
QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA in Graphic Design or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of related experience in designing, art directing, and managing a creative team
  • Experience with new media trends, knowledge of latest developments in software technology that supports communications end products, production methodology, and desirable skills in team members
  • Excellent managerial and leadership abilities
  • Strong problem-solver
  • Keen multi-tasking skills and strong attention to design detail
  • Expert in design applications such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash
  • Superb communication skills, ability to present information to clients in a clear and appealing manner, ability to participate in finalist presentations, and site visits with prospective clients
