Danaher Sensors and Controls manufactures and markets products that sense, measure and control temperature, position, quantity, time, level and flow in the Process Automation and Factory Automation Markets. The Specialty Products business unit generates approximately $100m in revenue combined with significant operating profit. With two locations; Elizabethtown NC (approximately 60 minutes from Wilmington NC suburbs) and Farmington CT (approximately 20 minutes from Hartford, CT), the business unit has more than 350 associates performing marketing, sales, product development, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain management, human resources, finance and customer service activities. The business is comprised of a variety of product lines under industry recognized brand names including Veeder Root, Eagle Signal, Namco, Dolan Jenner, Joslyn Clark, Superior Electric, Thomson, Hecon, and Partlow. The markets served include electronic timers and counters, mechanical times and counters, voltage control components, variable transformers, thermoplastic bearings, safety light curtains, proximity sensors, fire pump controllers, limit switches and chart recorders.

Description

Provide leadership to ensure effective long-term partnerships with suppliers that accomplish on time delivery of new product development projects with impeccable quality at the right cost.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop new and existing sources for new materials and or technology
  • Drive on time delivery of projects at the lowest possible cost while achieving a high level of quality from the suppliers
  • Arrange and facilitate supplier technical reviews at early design stages to launch throughout the project lifecycle
  • Qualify new suppliers to ensure quality, OTD, and cost are met in addition to having value-added capability
  • Negotiate short-term prototypes and full volume production for new product development projects
  • Assist in developing a strategic supply base in Low Cost Regions to support localized manufacturing for existing and NPD projects
  • Conducts effective sourcing research and activities in support of new product development and design projects
  • Develops should-cost estimates based on technical requirements definition
  • Places necessary purchase orders ensuring all data is accurate and all required approval signatures and properly obtained
  • Expedites purchase orders as necessary to support on time delivery of new product development projects
  • Manage phase in/phase out material plans for engineering projects
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Supply Chain

5+ years of purchasing/sourcing experience

Lean product development experience and a strong process orientation

Results driven and possess excellent organization, communication (written and oral), and presentation skills

Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, performing queries in ERP systems (Business Objects), along with data gathering, manipulation, and analysis expertise
