Position Title: Strategic Prevention Assistant

Department: Community Education

Reports to: SPF SIG Grant Coordinator


The Hopkins Community Coalition: One Voice for Reducing Youth Chemical Use is the current recipient of a Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant to address underage and high-risk drinking among youth and young adults.

The Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG) Assistant will provide project assistance and coalition support for the grant activities that aim to reduce the use of alcohol among area youth and young adults in the Hopkins School District community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist grant coordinator with the implementation of social marketing campaign to reduce underage alcohol use and binge drinking among youth and young adults in the Hopkins Schools community
• Recruit, train, and support the Young Adult Advisory Committee for 18-25 year olds
• Support the coalition marketing and communication activities, including: website, social media, and e-newsletter
• Assist in recruiting coalition membership and community sector representation, and maintaining the database of members
• Assist grant coordinator with coalition meetings and training opportunities
• Assist in implementation of other strategies developed by the Coalition to reduce underage alcohol use and binge drinking among youth and young adults in the Hopkins Schools community
• Work closely with grant coordinator, community coalition members, and sub-committees
• Assist in compiling data and gathering information for grant reports
• Attend monthly coalition meetings
• Attend substance abuse prevention training opportunities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills
• Experience with a variety of computer software including: Microsoft Office, databases, desktop publishing, web, and social media
• Willingness to learn about, and ability to work across cultures
• Ability to work on multiple tasks and work within set deadlines
• Customer service skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Basic knowledge of substance abuse and community-based prevention preferred
• Understanding of, or desire to learn the public health methodology of the Strategic Prevention Framework

College degree in Public Health, Community Health, Human Services, or related field preferred


Minimum of 2-3 years of previous work experience

20 hours per week / Monday

- Friday $15.40 - $22.62 per hour
