Manager, Business Consultant


This is a position for a business consultant with experience developing and implementing innovative business strategies. The candidate will work within an established and structured consulting team, responsible for driving team execution and conceptualizing complex business problems and developing strategic deliverables, with a focus on translating business objectives into actionable plans. This position requires excellent analytical, presentation, client facing, team collaboration, and writing skills to effectively communicate with senior leadership. This position also involves people management and responsibility for a specific track of client work. The ideal candidate is expected to have an understanding and appreciation of how technology enables business strategy.
  • Drive the vision and overall solution for difficult client problems
  • Drive high-quality delivery for a cross-functional business consulting team
  • Conduct strategic planning, including mission/vision statement development, and roadmapping
  • Lead secondary research, data collection and business analysis efforts
  • Conduct customer/vendor analysis, client interviews and workshops
  • Apply conceptual frameworks and analytical approaches to develop business cases
  • Research and analyze emerging market trends, technologies, and solutions to improve client businesses
  • Collaborate with team on change management communications planning; identify potential roadblocks to change and the messages that will help facilitate the change
  • Develop and lead user and/or stakeholder interviews, meetings and workshops to build consensus and develop business concepts
  • Own key parts of business process definition and mapping of processes core to the client's business
  • Be an active participant within a community that provides thought leadership, project support artifacts and analytical concepts for use within the strategy practice

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Legal Permanent Resident
  • Must be eligible for U.S. Government Clearance

Experience Guidelines:
  • 6-8 years of relevant work experience, including previous consulting experience or work for similar internal organizational functions
  • Prior work for a top-tier consulting firm is preferred
  • Experience working with senior-level clients to deliver results in politically complex environments
  • Interviewing skills, to talk with individuals and groups about their needs and ask the right questions to surface essential requirements information
  • Analytical skills, to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding, distinguish presented user requests from the underlying true needs, and distinguish solution ideas from requirements
  • Active Listening and Facilitation skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Organizational skills, to work with the vast array of information gathered during elicitation and analysis and to cope with rapidly changing information
  • Interpersonal skills, to negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders
  • Quantitative Modeling experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of standard research and analysis methodologies, frameworks and techniques


Minimum: Bachelor’s degree
Expected: Master’s degree, MBA or equivalent preferred
