Due to recent expansion, we have a vacancy for a structural consultant in Houston to support our engineering staff to provide engineering consultancy services to the oil & gas industry using assessment techniques to analyze and offshore structures.
Typical studies / projects last from 2 weeks to 6 months and include:
Fire and blast response analysis
Structural fitness for purpose assessments
Design of platform repairs and modifications
Fatigue analysis
Seismic analysis
Preparation of topsides and underwater inspection scope of work packages
Engineering evaluation of topsides and underwater inspection data

Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering
The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years experience in structural design including both liner and non-linear finite element modeling.
Capable of independent thinking and problem solving but will recognize when to consult with more senior staff
Project management experience
Ability to build client relationships and network with clients
Understand the oil & gas markets
Have good knowledge and be able to promote new and/or existing oil & gas technologies
Able to identify and follow through on leads associated new and exiting clients
Good understanding of financial and commercial operations
Self-motivated and persistent
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including presentations
A co-operative and helpful attitude to colleagues
Reliable, consistent and mature approach to work
Able to work in a team environment
Responsibilities
Checking and reviewing technical deliverables including reports, technical notes, drawings and engineering calculations
Preparing professional responses to inquiries
Preparing proposal documents including development of costs, time and resources
Data collection and review
Structural model generation and checking
Finite element analysis Interpretation and analysis of results
Manual calculations as required
Project management, managing and coordinating small teams
