Ensures code compliance by supervising the inspection of trades to include plumbing, HVAC, and building.
Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining and completing employee performance appraisals.
Assigns personnel, and provides direction for inspectors of HVAC, plumbing, and building.
Interprets code specifications, reviews plans, specifications and blueprints with inspectors, contractors, engineers, architects and owners.
Perform job site inspections to ensure they comply with code requirements.
Evaluates alternative construction materials and processes for viability with county requirements.
Develops and implements inspection procedures and policies.
Supervises code violations by ensuring that appropriate action is taken to bring code violations into compliance.
Prepare and serve court summons and warning notices.
Testify in court and before the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Researches and responds to customer questions and/or complaints concerning construction codes, requirements and regulations.
Assists in preparing and monitoring divisional budget.
Prepares correspondence and reports as necessary.
Ensures that integrity of Hansen system is maintained.
Monitors and measures workflow using Hansen system.
Associates degree or 2 years of college / technical school; eight years of experience in building construction/inspection, plumbing, and HVAC or a related field, including one year of supervisory experience. Must possess minimum of 4 of the following certifications: ICC Building Official Certification (CBO), ICC Residential Combination Inspector Certification, ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification, ICC Commercial Plumbing Inspector Certification, ICC Commercial Building Inspector Certification. Remaining required certification to be obtained within first 6 months of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. A combination of training and experience above the minimum requirements will be considered.
