Department: Maintenance

Accountable to: Lead Mechanic/Maintenance Supervisor/Base Manager

Position Summary: Responsible for troubleshooting and repair of aircraft airframe and powerplant parts and components.

Areas of Accountability/Essential Functions:
  • Performs all tasks as assigned in accordance with Company and FAA operating standards and GLA CAMP
  • Remains current on MILs; regularly checks binder for new MILs
  • Assesses/troubleshoots maintenance issues on aircraft; determines maintenance to be performed
  • Utilizes proper parts, tools and test equipment to accomplish all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks as required to provide safe, reliable and on-time aircraft; Ensures calibrated tools, test equipment or measuring devices being used are undamaged and have the proper calibration stickers
  • Makes accurate logbook/ log sheet entries
  • Provides “On the Job” training instructions (if qualified)
  • Completes shift turnover reports
  • Performs aircraft run-up and taxi (if qualified); Tows aircraft (if qualified)
  • Generates Manual Comment Report change requests
  • Performs pre-dock, dock and post-dock procedures when applicable
  • Reviews the aircraft logbook for open discrepancy(s); ensures that items previously deferred, continue to be deferrable
  • Performs the duties of a lead mechanic when required
  • Performs receiving inspection (if qualified)
  • Properly tags components
  • Maintains work area in a neat, clean, and safe condition at all times. Reports inoperative equipment to Lead Mechanic
  • Designates items as RII on maintenance log sheets and aircraft log books when that item is on the list of RII requirements
  • Operates Company equipment in a safe manner (tug, personnel lift, forklift, vehicles, etc.) (if qualified)
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Strong knowledge of and familiarization with airframe and powerplant concepts
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems effectively
  • Ability to read and understand diagrams and written instructions
  • Ability to prioritize workload in order to get aircraft completed on time
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • A&P License Preferred
  • Previous training and/or experience in aircraft maintenance preferred
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Working indoors and outdoors in all types of weather
  • Occasional to Frequent Lifting of items weighing up to 70lbs with or without assistance
  • Standing for up to 4 hours at a time
  • Frequent bending, reaching, climbing stairs, kneeling/crouching, twisting, walking, pushing, and pulling
  • Frequent writing, reading, and use of standard office equipment
  • Moderate to high noise levels; may require use of hearing protection equipment
  • Must be able and willing to climb ladders and work at heights up to 25 ft
  • Occasional exposure to chemicals
  • Varying schedules, may require work on nights, weekends, and holidays
Other Requirements:
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Travel may be required
  • Legally Authorized to work in the United States
  • Additional pay for past aircraft experience
