Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, ABHES, and CIE. Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the VP of Compliance. Interviews, processes, awards, and tracks financial aid funds for those interested in re-entering their chosen program. Provide individual financial aid advising as required by the student, and take escalated calls from level 1 and level 2 planners. Ensures students and potential students are informed of how they can finance their education. Packages the student with loans, and or grants they are eligible for. Assist students with finding a credit-worthy co-borrower if necessary. Provides detailed information to students, parents, faculty, and staff concerning the financial aid process, programs available, etc. Develops funding formulas and awarding plans that maximize the use of available funds for students while preventing any over-expenditure. Coordinates with admissions advisors to provide an effective and seamless student recruitment, entry, and enrollment process. Prepares, collects and tracks all required tuition planning documents (i.e. FAFSA, MPN's, Entrance Counseling, etc.). Achieves certification for student specific tasks like verification, etc. Good working knowledge of overlapping loans to assist transfer students. Answers inquiries regarding financial aid and student account issues. Identifies opportunities and solutions that improve current processes, and actively participate in the roll-out of new processes. Shares best practices with other Student Finance Planners to continuously improve the student finance experience. Assists the Director/Manager with helping level I and II planners by answering questions in the absence of the team lead, or if the team lead is unavailable. Be second in command for the team, and help the Director/Manager in conducting team meetings. Advises other planners on the team regarding advice on professional judgments.
Skills & Core Attributes Required:
Excellent customer service skills along with written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a proactive student finance environment. Working knowledge of Title IV Regulations. Must be computer and internet literate with knowledge of Campus Vue. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Associates degree or equivalent experience. 1-2 years of accounting or finance experience. Minimum 1 year experience in financial aid
Bachelors degree Previous experience with Campus Vue
