The San Diego County Water Authority was established in 1944 and has been successfully meeting San Diego’s water needs ever since. Through its 24 member agencies, including the City of San Diego, the Water Authority provides the San Diego region with more than 90% of its water supply. Since its formation, the Water Authority’s primary mission has been, and will continue to be, to supply the San Diego region with a safe and secure water supply.
The Public Outreach and Conservation Department is recruiting a Student Intern. The Candidate selected for the Internship position will be assigned to support a professional staff. The Intern will work under immediate supervision and will have the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of Water Authority activities in a high-performing, fast-paced environment. The primary responsibility will be to conduct on-line research and compile information for daily publication of water-related print and electronic news. The nature of the work requires a daily morning schedule (15-20 hours per week).The possibility of up to 40 hours per week during breaks may be offered during the school year.
Note: This is NOT the Water/Wastewater Internship program
Candidate must be enrolled full-time in a college or university accredited four-year program and be at a Junior or Senior class level. Desired majors are communications, journalism, marketing, public relations or related fields. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or better in the last 60 semester units. Experience using Dreamweaver, Constant Contact, conducting on-line research, Photoshop and video editing in Pinnacle is desired. Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required. Possession of a valid California driver’s license is required.
