This position is responsible for serving as a guide during new student orientation, including directing new students and their guests throughout the orientation process.

Key Responsibilities
• Foster a positive transition to campus life for new students
• Create an atmosphere where students are comfortable
• Greet, welcome, and check-in new students and their families when they arrive for new student orientation
• Participate in all training sessions and new student orientation meetings
• Attend and work all the orientation on your home campus, with the opportunity to work other campuses’ orientations
• Collaborate with various college offices and departments in the orientation program
• Respond to student questions and inquiries concerning the orientation program
• Travel to other campus locations for orientations as needed
• Represent the college in a positive and unbiased manner
• Perform other duties as assigned

Key Qualifications
• Interpersonal communication skills; the capacity to listen and respond to individuals’ questions and concerns; the ability to help others problem-solve
• At least one semester completed at GHC and a 2.5 cumulative grade point average, with a desired 2.75

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of Score and Student Email
• Understanding of different departments on campus and their functions
• Strong leadership and facilitation skills
• Student expertise about attending Georgia Highlands College
• Skill in oral communication
