Schedule varies: RAs must live on campus (which is where they work) and fulfill the responsibilities of their position at various times of the week and day, including overnight on-call duties and desk shifts as assigned. Some holidays and break periods will be required on a rotating schedule.

The Resident Assistant (RA) is a part time, paraprofessional staff member of the Department of Housing and Residential Life at Florida Atlantic University. As a student, the RA lives and works with a group of approximately 40 to 75 students in an assigned area of the on campus residential community. The RA works closely with and reports to the full time Resident Coordinator. Recruitment is open for positions on both the Boca and Jupiter Campuses. This recruitment process will fill staff positions for Fall 2013-Spring 2014 with an anticipated start date of August 7, 2013. The following criteria must be met in order for a student to be given consideration as a candidate: 1. Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at FAU. 2. Possess and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 (undergraduate) or 3.0 (graduate). 3. Completed 2 semesters (excluding summer) of post-high school College or University enrollment by August 7, 2013 - the first day of employment. One of these semesters must be completed at FAU. 4. Have 2 semesters of a relevant group campus living environment prior to employment for the RA position. Be sure to specify your relevant experience on your application. 5. Have a clear student conduct record -- candidate should not have any of the following: active/outstanding sanctions, student conduct probation, housing trespass, or outstanding payment balances with the university. 6. Must meet all eligibility requirements for student employment as stipulated by Florida Atlantic University. 7. Must be available Tuesday nights after 5pm for both Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 for staff meetings and RA assignments. 8. Must attend one of the required RA Information Sessions in January or February 2013. 9. Must complete and pass LDR 2010 course in Fall 2013 semester. 10. Must be available to start on August 7, 2013, no excused absences from training will be granted.
