The EC San Diego Student Services Advisor must enjoy working with international students and love learning about different cultures and meeting different people. Strong verbal and writing skills are a must have, along with cross-cultural sensitivity, and a customer-service mind set. Preferred qualifications also include international travel or study abroad experience, experience working under pressure, flexibility, and self-motivation. The main objective of this position is to promote all aspects of adult educational services offered at EC San Diego, as well as provide support to all staff and students. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Student Welfare
Act as one of the main points of contact for incoming new enquiries (walk-ins, telephone and internet) and assisting with student issues and questions
Manage front desk duties, answering phone calls, answering student questions, opening mail, and passing out notes to students
Help advise students on most aspects of what to do in San Diego, related school policies, cultural, and personal concerns
Design, organization, and management of the monthly student activity calendar
Prepare for Monday placement testing and orientation program each week
Assist with Monday duties which will include setting up the projector, welcome breakfast, and walking tour
Plan and coordinate activities and create a monthly activities calendar
Promote activities , collect payment and manage the activity binder
Manage activity flyers, organize chaperones as needed and chaperone signup sheet
Prepare weekly announcement every Tuesday
Help ensure that student records are promptly and securely filed away each week
Prepare the incoming student list, course evaluations, and issuance of certificates of completion each week
Maintain orderliness of computer stations/lobby area, including refilling brochure rack.
Assist with opening and closing duties
Copy/scan documents as needed
Make sure all welcome bags are stocked and ready for new incoming students
Assist in creating and posting at least two blog postings per week on EC’s website and Facebook
Assist with my Language Travel Magazine submissions
Other related student counseling support duties as assigned
Manage walk-in registrations and inputting them in ELVIS
Conduct a weekly welcome orientation and distribute student schedules
Follow up with students for any payments, health insurance, or documents that are missing
Keep the CS Budget spreadsheet up to date
Distribute exit affidavits and certificates
Emergency phone rotation
Abilities:
Ability to interact confidently and effectively on the phone and with new and current students
Strong ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail
Creative and great customer service skills
Experience:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Minimum 6 to 12 months prior office or administrative experience
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Must have own transportation.
Must have a cross-cultural sensitivity and a customer-service orientation
Education:
High School diploma required.Bachelors degree preferred
MUST BE A US CITIZEN - 40 hours per week -Health insurance, vision, dental and 401K after 90 days -$34,000 annually
