To provide support to the Graduation Services and Graduate Assistantship Processing units of the Graduate School. Perform thesis checks and conduct correspondence with graduating students. Meet with Graduate Assistants and process contracts and payroll. Provide backup support as needed to main office communications
A high school diploma or GED and two years of (FT) related work experience OR, two years of post- secondary education and six months of (FT) related work experience Excellent verbal/communication skills. Ability to calculate basic math. Working knowledge and skills to utilize current office equipment and a variety of complex software packages. Ability to calculate basic math. Excellent customer service skills.
WSU TESTING / EXAMINATIONS REQUIRED : Business Math. Word-Standard.
Essential Functions and percent of time:
50% – Receives draft and submitted theses and dissertations from graduating students and checks them against the guidelines in the Graduate Thesis & Dissertation Handbook. Assists the Assistant Director of Graduate Graduation Services in processing graduation applications and payments. Conducts correspondence with graduating students under the direction of the Assistant Director.
45% – Supports the processing of graduate assistantship contracts by: responding to questions from graduate assistants regarding preparation of contracts; retrieving eligibility data from Banner screens to check for the accuracy of contracts; reviewing contracts to ensure they are ready for signature; apply graduate assistant fee waivers in Banner; process OPT scores for international teaching assistants in accordance with Ohio law; assist the Graduate Assistantship Coordinator in entering Payroll/HR data for graduate assistants.
5% – Provide communications support and backup for essential student-facing communication systems in the office, particularly the front desk and phone systems, as needed.
