Relocation expenses will not be paid. This is a temporary Pathways Internship Program appointment not-to-exceed September 30, 2013. The anticipated hours are 20 per week. This position is located in Fort Collins, CO.
The Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed. Students who successfully complete the program may be eligible for conversion to a permanent job in the civil service.

Assistance will be provided to higher level administrative and professional staff by performing administrative work as assigned. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Types a variety of narrative and tabular material from rough draft and corrected copy. Also, performs general office and clerical tasks.
Uses word processing equipment to produce various documents such as correspondence, forms, reports and uncomplicated statistical material in final form.
Types transmittals, requests for supplies and forms, and other similar material.
Maintains office files; retrieves requested information from files; files correspondence, records, reports, and other material.
Performs a variety of clerical tasks such as validating and processing documents which pertain to the organization’s work, assembling information, preparing reports, gathering current data, etc.
Schedules appointments and makes meeting arrangements in accordance with instructions from the supervisor.
Assignments will vary by teams and divisions and incumbent will seek guidance from higher level staff as necessary.
To qualify, you MUST meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
Applicants can qualify by meeting the EDUCATION requirements specified below and/or the GENERAL EXPERIENCE requirements.
GS-3: 1 year above high school
GS-4: 2 years above high school

GENERAL EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-3 GRADE LEVEL: Applicants must have six months of general experience. Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-3/4 GRADE LEVEL: Applicants may have combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience to meet total qualification requirements. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. DD214 (Member 4 copy) or other veterans' documents required to receive veterans' preference.

A Pathways Participant Agreement will be required if you are selected for a position. The agreement must be signed by all applicable parties prior to entrance on duty.
As a condition of employment, a background investigation may be required for this position.
Due to the temporary nature of the position, promotion potential does not apply. Therefore, if you are selected at the GS-3 grade level, you will remain at the GS-3 grade level for the duration of your appointment.
Schedule will be determined when student is selected: Hours of work will be between 7:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
This Internship confers eligibility for a noncompetitive conversion to a permanent or term position in the competitive service contingent upon meeting all applicable Internship Program requirements and the needs of the agency. You will be considered for conversion to a permanent or term position upon the successful completion of your Internship. However, please note that eligibility for conversion does not guarantee the agency will opt for conversion.
HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Category rating procedures will be used to rank and select eligible candidates. The following quality categories will be used: Best Qualified, Well Qualified, and Qualified. Within each quality category, veterans' preference eligibles will receive selection priority over non-veterans.
Your final category placement will be based on your responses to the assessment questionnaire.
If, after reviewing your resume and / or supporting documentation, a determination is made that you have inflated your qualifications and or experience, your score can / will be adjusted to more accurately reflect your abilities. Please follow all instructions carefully. Errors or omissions may affect your rating. Deliberate attempts to falsify information may be grounds for not selecting you.

This position does not confer all of the benefits usually associated with the competitive service such as tenure and transfer and privileges. However, the selectee will be entitled to sick and annual leave accrual. Eligibility for retirement benefits, health insurance and life insurance is determined on a case by case basis.
