This individual oversees the budget creation and financial management of clinical studies for Clinical Research Operations (CRO) of the University of Kansas Cancer Center (KUCC).

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in healthcare or business administration. Three years experience in clinical trial setting & developing study budgets. Knowledge of protocol requirements. Excellent written & oral communication & negotiation skills. Working knowledge of spreadsheets, database software; collaborates with others & works independently.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in healthcare and business administration.
3 to 5 yrs experience with financial mgt in health care. Knowledge of policies&procedures in state funded higher education system. Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials. Detail oriented & proven ability to multi-task. Experience in matrix mgt. Masters Degree in healthcare or business admin.

Serves as the principal study budget contact for the KUCC CRO. Develop individual study budgets and negotiate those budgets with funding sources to assure fiscal responsibility associated with conducting clinical research. Works closely with the principal investigator and study personnel on all aspects of the budget: to assure all research costs are identified, standard of care has been identified, timing of revenues and invoices will assure adequate cash flow to conduct the study.

Consult with principal investigators, project managers, regulatory coordinators and Senior Financial Manager on budget submissions for clinical research studies.

Responsible for generating and editing study budgets utilizing coverage analysis process to ensure stakeholder review and agreement of draft budgets. Input budget into appropriate tracking software.

Prepare, review, and analyze financial and contractual language in documents (such as an Informed Consent Form) pertaining to patients on clinical studies.

Consults with other organizations associated with KUCC Clinical Research including KUMCRI, KU Hospital, KU Physicians, and the University of Kansas Cancer Center to determine appropriate costing and billing of services .
