Part of your development in this role will involve learning all of the various vendor specifications for subsea control systems. This is your chance to get involved with something significant, particularly since you'll play a major role influencing the selection and choice of the subsea equipment used within various projects. As a key part of this you will be given the opportunity to potentially develop either into a project management role or become an engineering authority on subsea control systems. This is a major company initiative and we work with dynamic clients and industry leaders utilizing cutting edge technology. Giving you the chance to develop as quickly as you can learn. The major objective for this position is to take the subsea controls system from conceptual design, through selection of varied sub components and systems, and turn it into a viable system that meets all the clients’ requirements. The engineer must understand the various engineering and legislative challenges to implement subsea controls into a deepwater environment and advise the client on various options of either existing or new technologies. To be successful in this role, you must deliver a fully commissioned subsea production control system that meets all requirements for life of field usage. A critical part of the task is to manage various diverse vendors to deliver the necessary sub components that make up the system and to ensure that all parts integrate seamlessly into the overall control system. Vendors will be chosen by the client upon recommendation by the Controls engineer during the design phase; therefore, you will have a proven track of excellent interfacing and management skills. You will work within the diverse environment of a dynamic team to produce robust designs for deep water control systems. You will be expected to draw upon and add to the knowledge base of this highly skilled team. Company-wide, you will also work with other specialized engineers within Wood Group Kenny who specialize in all aspects of subsea systems from risers and flowlines to corrosion protection and also with the client and third party vendors. A key objective for this team is the production of an optimized and fully compliant commissioned control system that satisfies the clients specified technical, schedule and budgetary requirements. As part of mentoring and learning the total system architecture, you will play a critical role with emphasis on offering subject matter expertise on the projects while training others in your specialty and broadening your experience working with team members to learn all the systems involved in the projects.
