Substance Abuse Counselor assists in the coordination of all the recovery activities for graduates of the Employment Academy. Develops treatment and recovery plans, coordinates drug screenings and testing for cause and at random. Providing feedback for staff in Case Consultation meetings weekly. Develops and holds addiction education workshop group sessions. Implements group and individual counseling sessions.
Associate of Arts (AA or AS) degree in Addiction Counseling or in Mental Health with and 3 years related experience or Associate Degree and Certified Chemical Dependency Certificate (CCDC) in lieu of working experience. The ability to intervene between two or more persons in a non-violent manner. The ability to be flexible with schedule and shift changes. Must be accessible by phone; have a valid driver’s license with no more than three points; be physically capable of moving throughout the building and be able to respond to guests in need of assistance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to set priorities. Excellent judgment and decision making skills.
