Position available at Julian F. Keith Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center in Black Mountain, NC. Usual work schedule includes rotating weekends and some holidays. Serves as case manager for developing, implementing, and coordinating therapeutic treatment. Ensures patient needs are addressed through referrals to other program staff, outside agencies, and/or referring LME. Position may occasionally be called upon to assist with or conduct patient in-depth assessments in order to evaluate psychosocial factors related to addiction. Identified needs are presented to an interdisciplinary treatment team in order to formulate a master treatment plan. The case manager documents progress notes on a weekly or more frequent basis or as indicated and assists in the completion of continuing care plans to include attaining aftercare appointments as coordinated with referring agencies. A considerable amount of time in this position is devoted to assisting patients with identifying support networks and assisting with halfway house applications and placement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Knowledge of human development, psychodynamics, group dynamics, major schools of psychotherapeutic skills and techniques, chemical dependency, mental health, professional ethics, community resources, bio-psychosocial factors related to addiction and models of clinical intervention. Skill in oral and written communication, advanced counseling skills and techniques, skill in developing trust and rapport and facilitating the group process. Ability to work with and support others, to work through patient ambivalence and to provide honest, positive, constructive input to counseling department and agency as a whole.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Credentialed as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) or as a Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professional (CCJP),(or an equivalent credential from a governing authority recognized by the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board) to practice under the provisions of the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Act. Minimum education and experience requirements for a trainee appointment: registered with the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board in pursuit of credentialing as a (CSAC); or registered w/ the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board in pursuit of credentialing as a CCJP. Individuals in pursuit of either credential in this job class shall have five years to complete the process. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
