All camps run from 6/11/13 - 8/16/13. You may apply for more than one camp.
Pay rate: $7.25 to $8.25 per hour, depending on job requirements and qualifications.
Minimum age (as of June 1, 2013): 17
Requirements for all camps:
previous experience interacting with children or teens (paid or volunteer), such as in a school, camp, daycare, or recreational setting;
valid CPR and first aid certifications prior to start of c&
ability to work in a team environment;
ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
ability to express maturity in thought and work habits;
ability to promote good conduct and act as a role model for campers;
ability to maintain effective and courteous working relationships with campers, parents, employees, community organization partners, and the general public;
ability to understand and abide by Greenville Recreation and Parks Department policies and procedures.
Examples of Duties:
Aquatics and Fitness Center Camp
Hours: Must be available to work a varied schedule from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
Requirements: Requires athletic, arts and crafts, aquatics, and/or indoor and outdoor games experience. Must be active and enthusiastic. Must attend required staff training prior to the beginning of camp.
Job Description: Daily guidance of 12-15 campers. Leads group through daily activities; assists other counselors and participates with campers; supervises the play area at all times; plans and directs a portion of the daily routine; and other duties as assigned.
Camp Escape
Hours: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday
Job Description: Daily guidance of campers aged 5-21 with developmental and/or physical disabilities; leads camp activities; assists other counselors; actively participates with campers; plans and directs a portion of daily activities; maintains attendance records and other required paperwork; and other duties as assigned.
Previous experience working with individuals with developmental or physical disabilities in recreation or physical education preferred.
Eppes Recreation Center Day Camp
Hours: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday
Job Description: Daily guidance of campers ages 5 – 12; leads
camp activities; assists other counselors; teaches sport
skills; supervises at the swimming pool; supervises field
trips; assists in planning daily activities; leads group
games; and other duties as assigned. Previous experience in
summer camp setting helpful.
Jaycee Jamboree Camp
Hours: Must be available to work a varied schedule from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
Job Description: Daily guidance of campers ages 5-9; leads camp activities; assists other counselors; teaches sport skills; supervises at the swimming pool; supervises field trips; assists in planning daily activities; leads group games and art projects; and other duties as assigned. Previous experience in summer camp setting helpful.
Playground Program
Hours: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday
Job Description: Assists in planning and coordinating daily activities which include arts and crafts and team building games for campers 5-12 years old. Responsible for supervising campers ensuring their safety and well being. Helps maintains and acquires the necessary operating supplies with approval of Recreation and Parks Leader; assists in maintaining attendance records and permission slips for each camper; handles parental concerns and complaints when supervisor is not available; other duties as assigned.
Special Requirements: Must possess a creative imagination in arts and crafts and team building games. Must be willing to participate in game activities.
Sports Plus Camp
Hours: Must be available to work between 7:30 am - 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
Job Description: Daily guidance of campers ages 5-10; leads camp activites; assists other counselors; teaches sport skills; supervises at the swimming pool; supervises field trips; assists in planning daily activities; leads group games and art projects; and other duties as assigned. Previous experience in summer camp setting helpful.
South Greenville Sports Camp
Hours: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday

Previous experience in summer camp setting helpful.
Tot Lot Camp
Hours: 8:45 am - 12:15 pm, Monday - Friday
Job Description: Daily guidance of pre-school aged campers; leads group through daily activities; assists other counselors; supervises facilities and campers at all times; plans and directs a portion of the daily activities; and other duties as assigned. Previous experience with pre-school ages helpful.
Special Requirements:
