Summer Internship Tech II, Fisheries (S13-001)
This summer internship position will work on a diverse array of fisheries research projects including fish tagging and tracking evaluations, water quality monitoring, and adult fish sorting and enumeration. This could include snorkeling surveys for fish in cold waters, backpacking heavy loads into remote areas to conduct fish research, fish netting and sorting and conducting water quality profiles, These activities are conducted in all kinds of weather and may involve operation of boats, pickup trucks and trailers. Survey work includes collecting and recording biological data and entering the data into computers.

PGE’s West Side Hydro Plants which is located 30 miles east of Portland in Estacada, OR.
Top candidates will have:
Working knowledge of fisheries and wildlife survey methods.
Ability to work effectively in outdoor environments.
College student majoring in fisheries, wildlife or similar discipline.
Able to walk through rough terrain while carrying survey equipment.
Ability to safely operate a motor boat.
Ability to swim and snorkel.
Valid drivers license with evidence of safe driving habits
The successful candidate is currently working toward a Bachelor’s degree majoring in fisheries, wildlife or similar discipline. Must have Effective computer skills, including Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook software applications. Effective problem solving skills. Effective human relations and communications skills
