Monitors activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers by performing the following duties

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe practices.
Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aide, CPR and/or AED.
Maintains order in swimming areas by consistently enforcing rules.
Inspects facilities for cleanliness.
Cleans swimming pool.
Instructs children in swim lessons, maintains paperwork necessary for instructor documentation.
Conducts mandatory lifeguard in-service training throughout the summer.
Supervise patrons within pool facility: on pool deck, pool furniture, pool lobby and in the pool.
Maintain minimum requirements of 1,200 meters lap swim per week for physical conditioning.
Conducts all NASCO Instructor courses for lifeguard certification.

Education and/or Experience:
Must be 16 years of age or older
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
National Aquatic Safety Company NASCO Certified Lifeguard and or NASCO Instructor Certified
Swim Lesson Instructor Program Certified
Advanced CPR & First Aid
Oxygen Administration & AED Certified
Other Skills and Abilities:
Work well with children, Bilingual language skills a plus
