These temporary, non-benefits eligible positions are expected to start May 13, 2013 and last less than 180 days. Repair walls, woodwork, doors and frames of University apartments and buildings. Perform general maintenance duties to include general carpentry, electrical or plumbing repairs.
Prepare surfaces for painting by removing old finish from surface, putty or plastering damages surface, taping and floating sheet rock in new installation. Assist with general maintenance to include such things as minor electrical and plumbing repairs, simple carpentry, etc. Clean patios, sidewalks and parking lots using pressure washer. Perform related work as assigned.
High school diploma or GED desirable and at least 3 years of experience that is directly related in painting or maintenance field. Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications. Physical ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, to bend and stoop, lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Verifiable local references. Ability to comply with workplace guidelines and attendance requirements. Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check required.
Pressure washer, buffer, drills, sanders, saws, and related equipment.
Work schedule is primarily from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday with occasional weekend, overtime and shift work to meet needs of university.
