Cornell University invites applications for the temporary summer positions of Sports School Athletic Instructors and Counselors. These positions assist the head coach in the planning and operation of various Cornell's various Sports Schools.
Cornell University's department of Athletics and Physical Education provides children ranging from 8-18 the opportunity to learn and practice a variety of Sports under the guidance of our Varsity Coaching staff ( http://www.cornellbigred.com/staff.aspx?tab=staffdirectory ). Sport school programs run June 19 through August 9, 2013 .
In this role you will:
Utilize a specific knowledge, skills and abilities of a specific sport to instruct, coach, mentor and develop school age children, in that specific sport. Create and/or use opportunities to promote individual student growth and development in their particular sport and enhance the overall Sports School experience for each and every participant.
Deal consistently and effectively with staff and program participants on a daily basis.
Possess a willingness and maturity to seek out and participate in a variety of situations to enhance the Sports School experience.
Act as a role model for Cornell University Sports Schools.

NOTE: Per NCAA bylaw 22.214.171.124, regarding the employment of prospects, if you are eligible to play collegiate sports you must have attended and be registered as a student at a college or university prior to working camps (2008/2009 NCAA Division I Manual).
Prior coaching or competitive playing experience on a collegiate team, strongly preferred.
Credentials should reflect proven success and potential in coaching, and in working with student-athletes.
