Build strong and positive relationships with young people (grades 3-8) in the STRIDE Summer Camp to build a fun summer experience for campers
  • Implement grade-specific programming for arts and culture, academic enrichment (ELA, Math and Science) and recreational activities
  • Plan and coordinate workshops, activities, field trips, guest speakers, and special events
  • Facilitate youth involvement in the planning and implementation of special projects and special events
  • Supervise youth at all times
  • Update Camp Director regularly regarding progress of youth
  • Collect and maintain comprehensive, up-to-date, and accurate records, including attendance
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Qualifications:
    • Must be at least 18 years old
    • Bachelor's degree or some college in Education, Fine Arts or related field preferred (HS diploma or GED required)
    • Strong youth development background and previous experience working with young adolescents (grades 3-8) from diverse backgrounds
    • Background in program development, curriculum design, and lesson plan writing, especially in arts, culture, and education
    • Sensitivity to multi-cultural issues
    • Strong organizational, written, and communication skills
    • Self-directed and able to work as part of a team
    • Creativity, flexibility, and commitment
    • Bi-lingual Cantonese or Spanish a plus
    Hours: 35 hours per week; Mondays-Fridays, Employment Period will be from June 24th – August 23rd 2013.

    Salary: $13.00 per hour
