Title: Summit Course Senior Fellow

Location: MacDill AFB - Tampa, FL

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate the activities of an instructional team. Manage curriculum development and maintenance of all resident and non-resident course material. Lead periodic curriculum reviews ensuring lesson plans meet instructional design standards and content requirements. Evaluate course delivery and effectiveness recommending changes to the JSOU Enlisted Academy Commandant, Deputy Commandant, and Chief of Academics as required. During course execution, the contractor shall perform as a subject matter expert educating Special Operations Forces and Service Command Senior Enlisted Leaders (Command E-9). Mentors students and instructors in course curriculum focus areas including Strategic Thinking; National Security Policy and Strategy; Defense Enterprise Management; Theater Strategy and Campaigning; Contemporary Operations; and associated Organizational Leadership subject areas. Performs research and conducts outreach with SOF and conventional forces on national security affairs and joint operations related subjects. Evaluates student oral presentations, in depth research, military briefing and writing assignments. As required, the contractor applies relevant subject matter expertise to design and develop comprehensive JSOU-EA four part lesson plans to include: conducting research, developing lesson objectives, samples of behavior, outlines, presentation graphics and student learning checks/evaluations. Must posses relevant and up to date, subject matter expertise and experience in all curriculum areas including: Strategic Thinking; National Security Policy and Strategy; Defense Enterprise Management; Theater Strategy and Campaigning; Contemporary Operations and Associated Organizational Leadership subject areas. The contractor shall develop and manage courses, seminars, and associated special events conducted by the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU). The contractor provides lectures on subjects related to EJPME collaboration in SOF operations, programs and activities. The contractor shall be responsible for providing instruction, research and writing mentorship, and course leadership that traditionally includes promote and facilitate leading-edge professional education in areas related to the goals of USSOCOM and the university; Build, and provide sufficient support for, a community of innovative subject matter experts (SME) to enhance academic capacity at the university and to increase internal and external knowledge of Special Operations; Develop networks between the university and SMEs specific to Special Operations programs and activities in the public and private sectors, nationally and internationally; Act as the nexus between the university and this community of SME with respect to professional development and academic initiatives of mutual benefit; develop mutually beneficial linkages with other academic programs in order to develop partnerships and collaborative academic endeavor IAW government planning guidance; Transfer knowledge to the greater DOD and interagency communities through outreach (e.g. collaborative research; seminars; workshops; lectures; websites; publications); Develop strong linkages with appropriate academic departments and units and add value to other departments by aiding faculty and student recruitment and retention by enriching the research environment; Provide interdisciplinary education and mentoring for graduate students and regular communication of JSOU activities and opportunities for faculty and students involvement. The contractor shall provide academic leadership that includes but is not limited to leading strategic planning for the development of curriculum to ensure that emerging JSOU objectives align with the university’s strategic plan; Advise and support the proper discharge of academic duties of JSOU including curriculum design, development, presentation and evaluation of educational material working effectively with the university’s governance committees Mentoring the development and execution of professional education effectively and efficiently, ensuring that accepted standards of research and ethical behavior are met; Enhance the reputation of JSOU by providing quality professional education and communicating that education to the SOF community; Academic indicators of productivity cover a wide range of activities: meeting with students during arranged hours, individual class preparation, maintenance of an active research agenda, preparation of new lectures, conference presentation, publication commitments, and an open expectation of peer critique. Academics plan their work in year or longer block, and advocate a broader, open-ended, cumulative educational model.

REQUIREMENTS:

· BA/BS in related field.

· 10+ years of SOF experience in nominative Command Senior Leader positions

· Significant practical experience within the SOF community

· Instructor and project or program management experience

· Knowledge of the principles of adult professional education
