Performs supervisory work in the care and maintenance of an assigned area. Supervises and coordinates workers in areas such as agriculture, athletics, grounds, housing and residence halls, physical plant, maintenance, etc.
Responsible for performance of maintenance issues where needed for School of Pharmacy and School of Nursing facilities.
Schedules and supervises work of staff in maintenance and repair of facilities.
Provides maintenance and supervision to mechanical, plumbing, HVAC , electrical and trouble calls.
Accomplishes assigned work orders and preventive maintenance actions.
Operates state vehicles.
Performs a wide variety of maintenance, work order support, coordination, facility services and operations work and minor construction, as required to maintain and operate institutional facilities in an efficient, effective and safe manner.
Furnishes cost estimates on jobs requested; hires, disciplines and evaluates workers.
Performs on-call duties 24/7 as required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study and three years experience related to assigned area; OR a combination of education and/or related experience to equal seven years.
Must have valid drivers license and be able to pass the MVR to drive state vehicles.
Prefer facilities operations & maintenance licenses / certificates.
Thorough knowledge of general maintenance.
Skilled in mechanical, plumbing, HVAC , and electrical methods, procedures and materials.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety hazards to minimize accidents.

Must have knowledge and ability to complete maintenance in large institutional and complex buildings and complete minor construction work.
Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must have the ability to keep records and to communicate both orally and in writing. Must be computer literate.
Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and strong team / group work ability. Must also be able to respond to emergencies on weekends, holidays and after hours as needed.
Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds for short distances; must be able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, crawl, and climb hand over hand. Must have strength, stamina, physical flexibility, whole body steadiness and manual dexterity. Must have good visual acuity, color perception, and hearing.
