The Honolulu Rail Transit Project (HRTP) Office located in Honolulu, Hawaii has an opening for a Supervising Engineer / Sr. Supervising Engineer to serve as the Design Fixed Facilities Interface Engineer . This individual will represent the owner’s fixed facilities engineering interests within the $5.3 billion Honolulu High-Capacity Transit Corridor Project. Serving on the staff of the General Engineering Consultant (GEC), the position will report to the Project Interface Manager. Responsibilities will include the following:
Oversee the development of the Interface Control Manual (ICM) of the Design/Bid/Build (DBB) Contractor(s); track its progress, review changes and additions as they occur. This position provides updated ICM progress to the Project Interface Manager (PIM).
Participate in routine interface meetings between and among adjacent interfacing contractors and designers.
Monitor contractor interface performance, inform the PIM of potential issues and participate in resolving conflicts between and among contractors.
Review interface submittals to assure conformity with the ICM.
Monitor completion of the Project Interface Control Documents (ICD) for issues with the construction bid documents.
Coordinate with contractors and contract resident engineers (CREs) to facilitate timely closure of interfaces.
Participate in meetings with design-build contractors, design consultants, and the client contributing in areas within purview.
Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Transit project interface experience required. Ability to manage and coordinate design and construction between and among various parties is required.
Engineering or architectural degree required. Ability to understand the technical engineering and commercial aspects of the project documents is essential.
Licensed Engineer or Architect in HI (or ability to obtain HI license within one (1) year of assuming the position).
Design experience in large transportation projects preferred.
Design-build, rail, and construction experience are plusses.
Strong communication and people skills are essential to satisfactory execution of this position’s responsibilities.
Computer proficiency and experience with data base systems are important skills for this position. Primavera’s Contract Management Software (CMS) experience is a plus.
