Position Type Full Time Posting Job Description The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Capital / Inventory Supervisor for the Regional Accounting Center. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Position Summary

The purpose of the position is to supervise the Regional Accounting Center's capital projects, fixed assets, intangibles and inventory processes.
Ensure accurate and consistent accounting in compliance with corporate policies and procedures. Provide region management with timely and accurate information to support business decisions.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Supervises Regional Accounting Center Staff including
conducting employee interviews; training; planning,

assigning and directing work; motivating staff;

addressing and resolving problems; performing year-end

performance evaluations

  • Supervises the Regional Accounting Center's capital
projects, fixed assets, intangibles and inventory

processes and identifies opportunities for improvement

and raises opportunities to management, as appropriate;

oversees capital / inventory staff whose responsibilities

may include, but are not limited to:

Analyzing and reconciling capital project, fixed asset,

intangibles and inventory accounts and sub ledgers

and resolving any discrepancies

Preparing required journal entries for capital projects,

fixed assets, intangibles and inventory related

accounts (e.g. capitalized interest, capitalize labor,

adjust fixed asset reserves, write off obsolete

inventory, monthly accruals, etc.)


Performing capital projects, fixed assets, intangibles

and inventory reporting


Reviewing Purchase Authorizations (PAs) for coding

and input into system

Performing CPE reconciliations


Processing and reviewing fixed asset retirements and



Evaluating and recording changes to fixed asset and

intangible useful lives


Coordinating cycle counts and physical inventories

and evaluating results

Assessing inventory for obsoleteness and write off or

transfer as appropriate

  • Reviews and signs journal entries and support for
appropriateness and proper audit trail prior to posting

  • Participates in meetings and interacts with various
management levels within the organization for purposes

of reviewing compliance, coordination of accounting

matters or financial variance analysis

  • Develops and updates department procedures as
needed and works with management to develop and

interpret accounting policy relevant to the department

  • Develops queries and reporting tools to efficiently gather
and report financial information

  • Provides financial systems support and training
(PeopleSoft / OnBase)

  • Supplies financial information to internal stakeholders
and external auditors as requested

  • Prepares or reviews ad hoc financial reporting requests,
other analyses and special projects as requested by


  • Performs duties in compliance with GAAP, company and
department policies and procedures, internal controls

and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements

  • Provides superior internal customer service to the
regions supported by the Regional Accounting Center

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent
work experience

  • Four to six years related experience
  • Experience to include capital project (project / job
costing), fixed asset and / or inventory accounting

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills; must be
able to communicate ideas and issues effectively and

concisely to all levels of management, internal and

external auditors and outside contacts

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Ability to analyze transactions, determine proper

accounting and understand fluctuations and their



Ability to understand our business transactions and

how to account for those transactions

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret corporate
procedures, technical procedures and/or governmental


  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically MS Excel
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
under stressful conditions and coordinate the completion

of multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced


  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including hours
beyond the normal work week when required

  • Must be able to pay close attention to detail and
understand oral and written instructions

  • Must display a positive attitude dedicated towards
achieving results for the "team" as well as providing

quality service and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters of Accountancy / CPA
  • At least one year of supervisory experience
  • At least one year of public accounting experience
  • Cable industry knowledge
  • PeopleSoft accounting and data extraction (query)
software experience

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and

Yes, Travel 10 % after initial transition
