ROLE SUMMARY

The primary role of this position is to lead the Data Management team. This position will supervise data aggregation and analysis to improve patient care and enhance operational performance. The supervisor will coordinate the flow of information between departments using relational databases, as needed. Data integrity and quality will be the main responsibility of this supervisor. Data Management staff will perform high-level tasks such as creating, developing, and presenting dashboards/scorecards, all overseen by the supervisor. The supervisor will assist with the development of physician reports for OPPE and Peer Review purposes. The Supervisor of Data Management is responsible for the successful delivery of data services provided to the customer and oversees the provision of education to Cheyenne Regional on how to utilize available data. The Supervisor of Data Management interacts positively with the Medical Staff, service line directors, managers, performance improvement teammates, along with a wide variety of other customers. The nature of the position requires high leadership, relationship, and cognitive skills. In addition, the supervisor identifies data and presentation needs, explores a number of data options as sources, has high critical thinking and prioritization skills, and has high levels of multi-system literacy.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Act as System Administrator for MIDAS+ systems and all system enhancements by coordinating resolution of integration issues between system applications; conducting system analysis and validation of all MIDAS+ data; directing staff in report delivery and dictionary maintenance

2. Support the Chief Medical Officer on the Crimson Initiative to ensure quality data is loaded into the system; oversee dissemination of quality reports to the Medical Staff; attend Medical Staff meetings to address data issues and answer questions; collaborate with Patient Financial Services to address coding, documentation, and attribution concerns

3. Act as Advisor to the Director of Quality Improvement and other members of the Executive Team on required reporting, data utilization opportunities, and other data related needs as identified

4. Assist with data aggregation for the Core Measure Fallout Committee by overseeing clinical data abstraction on all Core Measures; assist in communicating opportunities for improvement with Core Measure teams and Cheyenne Regional staff

5. Lead Data Management staff by providing opportunities for staff to develop and grow professionally; supply necessary resources to staff as needed; hold staff accountable to improve performance; develop and/or modify processes to reduce waste within the department and across the organization

6. Design and structure data scorecards and dashboards to assist departments in performance improvement initiatives aligned with Cheyenne Regional’s overall vision and patient safety initiatives

7. Manage the clinical data abstraction and dissemination of interpretable reports on: Core Measures (ie. Acute Myocardial Infarction, Heart Failure, Pneumonia, Surgical Care Improvement Project, Stroke, Hospital-Based Inpatient Psychiatric Services, Hospital Outpatient cases); National Registry for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation; National Cardiovascular Data Registry; Society of Thoracic Surgeons Registry

8. Ensure that all customers receive high-quality data support and customer service

9. Nurture relationships with Executive Team members, the Medical Staff, Directors, Managers, all Cheyenne Regional staff and community members

10. Collaborate with Executive Team members, the Medical Staff, Directors, Managers, and all Cheyenne Regional staff to identify data and metrics needs

11. Participate on work teams and committees utilizing data analysis and presentation skills to identify and assist with data needs

12. Contribute ideas for process and performance improvement initiatives

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree
· Experience with Microsoft Office products
· Previous experience as a project manager
· Minimum three years managing high profile projects, working with database systems, knowledgeable in database rules, writing queries, and relational database creation and management
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
·
Experience with Crystal Reports
· Experience with SAS
· Previous experience as a people manager
