Responsible for the supervision of cooks, food service workers at the Methodist Hospital / Melrose Institute including scheduling, managing daily work flow, inventory, sanitation and safety compliance. Works with the Food Service Manager of the department to accomplish the Mission of the Department, specifically to achieve the highest levels of food quality in presentation and customer service. Education/Experience: Minimum of a one year certificate from a technical college in Dietary Management or one to two years experience in a food service (health care setting is desired). Advance education in the field of food service is favorable. Safe Serve training completed within 3 months of hire. Special Knowledge/Skills/Certifications/Licenses: Prior experience with food systems: patient food assembly, guest services, ware washing, and department sanitation helpful. Prior supervisory experience is required. Must demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills. Demonstrates knowledge of age related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients. This position requires familiarity and compliance with matters of law, regulations and internal policies affecting the employment relationship, (including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, discrimination and harassment laws).
