The Supervisor of IT Student Services oversees the operational activities of the Service Desk, which provides technical services and support to the university, and manages the Student Computer Consultants, who provide direct support to university students. By developing and deploying effective frameworks for managing and improving customer IT service, the Supervisor of the Service Desk and IT Student Services ensures the Service Desk and Student Computer Consultants meet and exceed expectations in performance, metrics, benchmarks, standards, and processes. In addition, the Supervisor of the Service Desk and IT Student Services coordinates student services with a myriad of other departments at Rice, acts as a liaison with student government organizations, and represents the students' voice in IT service management groups.

Education Required
Bachelor's Degree

Engineering, computer science, MIS or related field

May substitute additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis in lieu of the degree.

Experience Required
5 years

Related experience in IT user support services roles.

May substitute graduate-level education for up to two years of the required experience on an equivalent year for year basis.

License/Certification Required

Other Skills Required
Analyze and provide solution to complex technical problems including but not limited to hardware, software, basic networking, printing, Windows Operating System, and Macintosh Operating System.

Education Preferred
Master's degree.

Experience Preferred
Experience training/teaching Windows, Macintosh, and Linux OS concepts.

License/Certification Preferred
ITIL Foundations

Other Skills Preferred
A high level of self-motivation, adaptability, and integrity is highly preferred. Customer oriented, interpersonal and phone skills highly preferred. Fluent in written and spoken English strongly desirable.

Physical Demands
Ability to lift a microcomputer CPU, monitor, or printer (up to 25 lbs).
May be required to wear a headset 90% of the time.

Working Conditions
(e.g. Weekend/evening work, travel, inclement weather, hazards)

Will be required to carry a cellphone and be reachable during off hours as determined by management.
