Supervisor, Payroll Implementation
Responsible for creating a WOW experience when leading team interactions with external and internal customers by consistently exceeding expectations. Under minimal supervision and requiring independent judgment and decision making, plans, directs and coordinates the activities associated with the new client transition and delivery of payroll and related services that result in client retention, growth and satisfaction. Supports sales prospecting efforts by attending prospect informational meetings and interfacing with the sales staff. Develops, coaches, mentors and leads payroll team members for sustained individual and team performance. Identifies, develops, recommends and implements process improvements that results in improved efficiency and effectiveness for the accurate and timely delivery of payroll and related services to client companies. Works with Manager, HR Services and service team providers to ensure service and communications are coordinated and client focused. Travels, when necessary, by several modes of transportation. Maintains flexibility in schedule to accommodate clients needs.
Customer satisfaction and retention monitors client satisfaction indicators via quality service checks and service observations of staff to ensure client satisfaction. Monitors and analyzes quality of service and client termination data. Interfaces with Manager, HR Services and Corporate departments to support actions and initiatives which improve region-wide client retention.
Customer interactions participates in client meetings via phone and in person when necessary to support clients perception of the value derived from our services. Demonstrates effective business communication skills, oral and written, to facilitate effective service and service recovery with clients.
Strategic thinking probes, gathers and analyzes client needs pertaining to payroll processing, reporting, team loads and day-to-day operations of the payroll team.
Business level consulting - understands a businesss financial operation relating to payroll and accounting for small to mid-sized business operations from an owner/payroll contact/on-site supervisor/CPA perspective to make business decisions and give guidance to clients, peers and direct reports.
Supports process and audits efforts to ensure integrity and accountability for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Responsible for interview and selection process for team.
Creates and maintains effective teams.
Establishes and supports team goals and objectives, including but not limited to CPP Certification of self and staff; CPP support through class facilitation; Performance goals for professional improvement of self and staff.
Conducts performance evaluations and development plans.
Conducts formal and informal coaching and counseling.
Facilitates new hire on-the-job training and orientation into team environment.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent required. Four-year undergraduate degree preferred. 5 to 8 years of experience in a related field required with 2 to 4 years prior payroll supervisory experience strongly preferred.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
CPP Certification preferred.

HR knowledge general awareness of various HR disciplines and understanding as it relates to payroll, benefits, taxation, accounting, employment documentation, employment and general HR practices.
Facilitation skills - leads and coaches a team through development processes. Communicates to a wide audience on the technical applications of payroll as applied to business and accounting.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn other application programs as needed.
Knowledge/Skill - Supports the design, plan and implementation of Payroll related programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations and that result in client-focused solutions. Plans and accomplishes goals. Assists team with difficult client issues seeking support from Manager/Director, as appropriate. Recommends changes to products or services based on customer and staff feedback. Prepares reports for upper management.

Accountability to Clients Value Perception - Ensures team maintains effective relationships with the client by consistently demonstrating a complete understanding of the clients needs, expectations, and business objectives. Recommends approaches and processes that achieve optimal results and are perceived as valuable by the client.
Accountability to Team Performance - Ensures customer satisfaction through the delivery of value-tied payroll services that result in client satisfaction, retention, and growth. Exhibits and establishes an expectation of communication by payroll personnel with service teams regarding pertinent service issues, needs and strategies. Identifies and recommends process improvements and enhanced operational policies and implement approved processes and policies while focusing on applicable laws, regulations, and/or policies pertaining to payroll processing and administration.
Internal Relationship Management - Builds, maintains, and promotes effective highly functional relationships with team members, peers and their teams, sales staff, and corporate team members. Ensures optimal collaboration between team members in payroll, orientation and service. Demonstrates proficient time management and organizational skills in coordinating communication and service affecting clients and team members.
Leadership - Effectively implements and maintains high performance Payroll practices within the defined payroll teams relative to interviewing and selection, establishing individual and team goals and objectives, performance evaluation and development, formal and informal coaching and counseling, and other practices. Identifies and participates in training and development activities to increase knowledge, expertise, and effectiveness. Exhibits and demonstrates customer focused solutions and communications that result in positive customer experience.
