Provides technical and administrative direction for accounting staff. Supervises and reviews accounting analyses, preparation of reports, and interpretation of accounting results in order to meet defined objectives and ensures that reporting standards are met. Accountable for the results of the team in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, guidelines, and laws.

Oversees and reviews financial data and information required for preparation of various reports and financial statements. Interprets the meaning of accounting results and advises management.
Directs the proper coding and entry of income and disbursement of Companies' funds and ensures adherence to Corporate policies and procedures.
Oversees required activities regarding reconciliation, journal and ledger balancing, and internal balancing for financial systems and ensures accurate and timely completion.
Prepares and/or reviews projections of accounting data to show effects of proposed changes on income and financial condition.
Ensures that systems and procedures are in compliance with policies, SAP or GAAP, and applicable regulations.
Ensures customer and internal/external audit inquiries are responded to in a timely and professional manner.
Supervises a group of analysts. May supervise accounting projects that overlap functional lines of responsibility.
Develops and maintains an engaged and accountable workforce.
Develops and maintains a fair and equitable work environment.
Oversees the ongoing operation of department systems, including utilizing systems tools to resolve business issues. Ensures proper internal control over the accounting process. Designs and implements procedures for controlling and monitoring. Establishes and maintains appropriate documentation associated with all procedures, policies and activities.

3 years experience and knowledge of practices and procedures related to accounting, analysis, reporting, budget and expense management
3 years experience and knowledge of accounting systems
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to develop and operate within a budget
Ability to adapt and work effectively with a variety of situations, individuals or groups
Ability to break down more complex problems into systematic parts for resolution
Ability to teach or foster development in others
Ability to make others comply in a fair, equitable, non punishing fashion

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of insurance accounting, statutory and GAAP

PeopleSoft experience

Bachelors degree in Accounting

3 years management experience
