On behalf of the Department of Defense and other U.S. Government Departments and Agencies, the Defense Security Service supports national security and the warfighter through our security oversight and education missions. DSS oversees the protection of U.S. and foreign classified information and technologies in the hands of industry under the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and serves as the functional manager for the DoD security professional development program. We provide security education, training, and professional development services as the functional manager for the DoD security professional development program, and for other U.S. Government personnel and contractor employees, and representatives of foreign governments, as required.

This Position is in the Excepted Service under Title 10, Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). This is a Full Time permanent position.
Excepted Service includes all positions in the executive branch of the Federal Government which are specifically excepted from the competitive service by or pursuant to statute, by the President, or by the Office of Personnel Management, and which are not in the Senior Executive Service.

Merit: Open to current and former Federal employees. SF50's showing title, series, and grade must be provided.

This position is located in the Security, Education, Training and Awareness (SETA) Directorate in the Defense Security Service (DSS).
As a Supervisory Visual Information Specialist, you will:
Perform a variety of work involved in communicating information through visual/audio means for the Security, Education, Training, and Awareness Directorate.
Assist in the production of still photography/graphics, designs, treatments, plans, and any required set of documentation for the development and production of still imagery.
Assist with the development and production of multimedia objects through the utilization of Macromedia Flash or some similar software tool.
Manage the Creative Services team within the Multimedia Production division.
Execute administrative and technical supervisory actions to include tasking, advising, and directing subordinate staff and workload.
This is a General Grade GG 13 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Duties of this position are at the GS/GG-13 level.
To qualify for this position at the GG-13 level you must have specialized experience equivalent to the GS/GG-12 grade level. Specialized Experience is defined as experience performing a variety of duties involved in planning, acquiring, developing, implementing, and assessing material utilized in the development of multimedia products and solution.
Substitution of Education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience at this grade level.

DRUG TESTING: Required

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS: Critical Sensitive (Top Secret)
This position requires a Top Secret security clearance - This position is designated critical sensitive, as defined in DoD 5200.2-R, Personnel Security Program, and therefore requires that a personnel security investigation be adjudicated for security eligibility on a pre-appointed basis. This requirement may take 120 days or longer to process.
A two-year trial period will be required; if a trial period has not been previously completed.
HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:
1. Knowledge of pre-production and post-production procedures in the production of information components.
2. Knowledge of software, hardware, and best practice developments in the audio, video, graphic, photographic, and multimedia industries.
3. Ability to supervise.
