Purpose of Position

The Supplier Quality Engineer position directly supports the Commodity Leaders with Supplier Quality Audit, Quality Performance Improvements and capability assessments. The SQE will support Greater Supply Chain Initiatives as required by the Business Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supplier Development Tool Deployment
  • Supplier Corrective action coordination and in-depth root cause analysis
  • Supplier interaction (e.g. supplier audits, assessments, process improvements)
  • Statistical tools (DOE, SPC, Lean, FMEA, 6Sig)
  • DPM daily monitoring and countermeasures
  • MRB related failure analysis
  • Process problem solving
  • Involvement with Advanced Product Development (APD) process
Relationships/Contacts
  • This Position is supervised by the Supply Chain Manager
  • Direct contact with Commodity Leaders and Supply Base
  • Daily contact with Operations
Measure of Performance/ Accountability
  • Accountable to prepare comprehensive reports by collecting, interpreting, analyzing and summarizing data to utilize in corrective action responses, countermeasures, and continuous improvement projects
  • Accountable to refine and enhance products and processes by applying a continuous improvement philosophy, statistical tools, risk management and other techniques
  • Accountable to identify Supplier Quality performance trends and implement corrective actions, including the coordination of those actions with suppliers.
  • Accountable to resolve quality related problems on the production floor and to utilize leadership and team skills to enlist the cooperation from other functional departments
Measures of Performance
  • Supplier Quality performance (PPMs) improvements
  • Supplier responsiveness to Corrective Actions
  • Specific measures to be identified in development plan and annual review
Background and Skill / Qualifications
  • 4 year degree in Engineering or a quality-related technical discipline
  • 2 years electrical and/or mechanical engineering experience in manufacturing
  • 2 years experience in a quality-related position
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques, procedures, instruments, etc.
  • Knowledge of SPC, DOE, Lean Manufacturing, FMEA, and Six Sigma
  • Experience with and demonstrated understanding of AS9100 / ISO9001 requirements
  • Ability to effectively handle significant inquiries and/or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and third party auditors
  • Previous experience with printed circuit board electronics (preferred)
  • Familiarity with J-STD and IPC standards (preferred)
  • Familiarity with FAA regulatory requirements (preferred)

  • Decisions have low-medium impact on Securaplane Profitability
  • Decisions have direct impact on other departments including Production, Test and R&O
