The Supply Chain Manager will support operations as the first line of communication with our suppliers and vendors. This individual will be responsible for overall vendor management including sourcing, qualifying, and scoring suppliers on a regular basis through frequent onsite audits which will require 30-40% travel. The Supply Chain Manager will also work with internal customers to ensure that material delivery and subcontract work meets or exceeds project needs with regard to lead time and quality.
Develop the process for finding and qualifying new suppliers
Objectively score and rank suppliers based on performance to include quality and delivery. This will include onsite audits of new and existing suppliers.
Relentlessly drill down into any supply chain issues to determine root cause and implement a solution
Management of the approved vendor list
Forecast and create roadmap for orders (standard orders as well as one-off specialty orders)
Establish best practices for supply chain and vendor management and implement controls for the same
Contract negotiation with vendors
Provide support for our Buyer/Planners as the first line of contact with our suppliers
Work closely with Engineering and Production to provide updates regarding vendor work and material delivery
Must have 10+ years of experience establishing best practices with regard to vendor management; experience with new product introduction in order to facilitate the identification and qualification of new vendors; excellent negotiating skills; excellent skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience using an ERP system.
Must be able to travel 30 – 40%. (This travel will either be local or by air.)
BS in Engineering or equivalent required.
