The product planner is responsible for the accuracy of the supply plan for their assigned area of responsibility. The product planner will focus on new product introduction launch preparedness coordination, accuracy of supply plan, cost/benefit analysis, and tactical inventory management of their product(s).
•Analyze supply-demand matching based on MRP run to determine root cause changes, shortages and surpluses, and identify and drive course corrections.
•Articulate the differences between demand plan and revenue plan and drive discussions on revenue commitment gaps by unit and the overall product health, etc.
•Coordinate with data management for new bill of material creation
•Manage Aged Die Bank Inventory
•Represent supply chain and articulate supply and inventory plans at all meetings with key internal customers
•Manage coordination of all actions necessary for product launch readiness (systems, data, supply plan, materials).
•Drive disposition of inactive / hold inventory and represent supply chain in meetings with the business unit and finance teams (in coordination with strategic inventory planner)
•Recommend demand shaping to achieve business goals such as consumption of excess finished goods or increasing margins
•Determine priority for which product to build for MRP system based on demand and business unit input
•Recommend and enter day of inventory for die bank, safety stock for direct materials and FG based on business rules set by strategic inventory planner and specific product requirements. Review quarterly.
•Identify required demand mix for factory planner
•Meet with Central Planning to identify which parts we want to connect / disconnect in the BOMs
•Provide product intelligence on the reasons / actions needed for inventory forecast
•Review all MRP inputs with functional owner to drive accountability and ensure accuracy as necessary (yld, BOM, capacity, etc) ensuring that all current data is being used by the planning engine.
•Review any scrap in detail by product and prepare detailed information for disposition.
•Manage the Scenario Planning process and drive decisions on cost-benefit analysis, margins, serviceability, manufacturability, etc.
•Manage product constraints to align release dates based on IP date and or manufacturing requirements.
