As a Supply/Demand Analyst at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for developing and executing the Demand Management processes, including inventory plans that will enable Micron to meet sales and service objectives while minimizing total inventory cost. In this role you will collaborate with Demand Analyts and Marketing to generate the net-change weekly Demand Plan, quantify risk and opportunities based on business plan objectives, identify the need for Allocation, and administer the process. In addition you will identify and close Supply-Demand mis-matches, ensure healthy inventory levels by facilitating action on risk, slow moving, and orphaned inventory, and monitor and improve key Demand Planning performance metrics and processes.

The Supply/Demand Analyst is the key interface between Demand Analysts and Master Production Scheduling (MPS) planning, and must be able to effectively communicate manufacturing constraints, sales risk, tradeoffs, and impact of changes in supply or demand across multiple organizations and management levels.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Generate Net-change Weekly Demand Plan

- Collaborate with Demand Analysts and Marketing to validate the demand signal and priorities

- Review forecasts vs. backlog to create Demand Plan

- Analyze deltas and historical performance to set current Demand Plan

- Compare Statement of Supply (SOS) to Demand Plan to highlight disconnects and drive closure

- Facilitate Demand Plan preparation and review meetings to review deltas from prior cycle

- Load Demand Plan into appropriate systems of record

- Review Demand Plan with MPS Planning for a smooth hand-off

Analyze and Facilitate Supply/Demand Matching

- Identify and quantify risk and opportunities based on business plan objectives

- Provide alternative solutions to sales and business units regarding demand and supply conflicts

- Provide pre-warning communication to sales and business units regarding changes in supply

- Identify and quantify mis-match (e.g. constraint, risk, impact, pull-in requests)

- Facilitate discussion on mitigation, trade-offs, or alternatives to close mis-matches

- Document agreements and incorporate into Demand Plan as appropriate

Facilitate and Administer the Allocation Process

- Collaborate with Demand Analysts and Marketing to identify need for Allocation

- Collaborate with Demand Analysts to propose initial Allocation plan

- Obtain final approval from Marketing and Demand Analysts

- Enter and maintain Allocation in system of record

Monitor and Respond to Inventory Levels

- Identify and drive action on risk, slow moving, and orphaned inventory to ensure healthy inventory levels

- Collaborate with MPS, Demand Analysts , Marketing, and Sales Finished Goods (FG) teams to monitor inventory levels (service levels, banks, FG inventory)

- Evaluate inventory mix to identify slow moving, orphaned, overstocked, or quality hold inventories initiate appropriate actions to consume or scrap

- Identify and communicate risk inventory based on knowledge of the product and interaction with Demand Analysts, Sales FG, Marketing, and MPS

- Manage package defaults

- Validate inventory service levels / replenishment targets on a monthly basis

Monitor and Improve Key Demand Planning Performance Metrics and Processes

- Incorporate key metrics reviews into weekly demand plan meetings

- Drive improvement where needed

- Continuously improve the process, tools, reporting, communications to achieve business objectives



Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

- Business

- Production and Operations Management (POM)

- Supply Chain Management

- Related field of study




Masters Degree

- Business Administration/Management

- Supply Chain Management

- Related field of study



3 years experience in each of the following:

- Planning/Forecasting

- Demand Planning

- Master Scheduling

- Supply Chain

Additional Information:
Experience with SAP demand planning and ERP systems; Advanced knowledge of Excel; Detail oriented with strong problem solving and analytical skills; Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to work under continual deadline constraints
