Required Skills:
Knowledge of core system programs and PC applications utilized by the First Niagara.
Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems.
Prior experience supporting large production applications in a fast-paced, complex hardware/software environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or equivalent work experience
Working knowledge of Microsoft Server 2003/2008 and Client frameworks
A minimum 5-7 years experience in software support or a network environment.
Experience working within a enterprise LAN/WAN MPLS environment
Previous experience with web applications interfaces.
Database experience with SQL Server.
Understanding of Storage Hardware Architecture including SAN/ISCSI
Experience with AML/Compliance systems a plus.
Experience with imaging systems a plus.
Experience trouble shooting IP network issues is preferred
Knowledge of HTTP & HTTPS protocols is preferred
Knowledge of Secure File Transfer Methods
Experience with Active Directory Integrations is preferred
Understanding of Replication Technologies
General Web Server Experience
Virtualization technology experience preferred
Scripting experience preferred
Experience with software monitoring and performance tools preferred
DBA experience a plus.

Job Description:
Overview:
The Application Support Engineer is a technical position responsible for implementation and support of technology and business solutions for First Niagara. The position is responsible for supporting, maintaining and improving applications that interface to, and support, the primary business systems functionality. The engineer will be involved in interfaces, patch management and code deployment for key applications including but not limited to Item processing, business operations, and compliance related software. This role will require considerable experience in systems integration and development, and candidates must be committed to delivering and supporting efficient, technology-based solutions to the business.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide application software support for business applications installed at First Niagara. This includes the support of existing applications functionality and future First Niagara application platforms.
Provide maintenance and support of existing web application server installation.
Ability to write SQL queries of varying complexity per technical specification and design specification.
Ensure data quality through interface from source to target systems.
Prepare documentation / technical designs of proposed software solutions.
Ability to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot applications.
Prepare new installation pre-staging and initial configuration
Provide testing and turn-up of final configurations.
Provide customer acceptance support.
Resolve customer technical issues through diligent research, reproduction, and troubleshooting
Work with staff members to develop program enhancements and document standards, for quality assurance.
Participate in program development for the projects assigned to the department.
Ensure that the proper deadlines and turnaround times are met in each area of responsibility.
Test new applications, patches or services prior to implementation.
Participate in the system release installations, while verifying the functionality of changes being implemented to ensure stable enhancement implementations.
Remain informed of technological advances being made and proposed in the industry that could add to the organizations services or improve our efficiencies.
Fully participate in assigned teams and related technology projects.
Responsible for openly communicating issues throughout the organization or to other appropriate personnel as required.
Participate in the Disaster Recovery testing preparation and execution.
Ensure new software systems meet organization requirements prior to implementation.
Utilize automated monitoring tools to anticipate interruption of services and report on the health of systems.
Utilize technology tools to automate operations and improve efficiencies when possible.
Available for 24 x 7 on call support of applications during assigned rotation.
