The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks and activities.
The Accounting Supervisor is also expected to make recommendations to the CFO for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Reports to CFO and oversees accounting procedures, internal controls and database management
Reviews monthly close process, maintains SOX compliance and controls
Plans, organizes and carries out the internal controls function including the preparation of an audit manual, audit plan, scheduling and assigning work and estimating resource needs.
Conducts risk assessment of departments/functional areas in accordance with timelines.
Conducts audit testing of potential risk areas and identifies reportable issues
Actively participates in the development of Internal Control policies ensuring that they are relevant to the operating environment.
Assists in preparation of financial statements, supervises AP, AR, and PR functions and staff
Ensures the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
Initiates budget and forecasting activities
Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
Responds to inquiries from the CFO regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like
Supports compliance of Statutory UK compliance; works with CPA firm at to ensure a clean and timely yearend audit
Assists in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
Provides training to new and existing staff as needed
Works with direct report to establish performance goals and objectives for each year, monitors and advises on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Five to seven years prior supervisory experience in the accounting/financial reporting areas.
Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
