                                              Under general supervision, the Supervisor, Laboratory guides and directs an assigned Laboratory Services group (Raw Materials, In-Process and Finished Product, Microbiology and/or Stability and Process Validation) in the performance of their duties, manages work schedules, reviews, evaluates and participates in work activities, and performs related duties as assigned.

                                              Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws.

                                              Prepares a weekly schedule and tracks work flow for appropriate group(s).

                                              Assists staff and other laboratory personnel with technical and/or process problems.

                                              Solves analytical problems, troubleshoots instruments, evaluates/reviews data, accurately checks worksheets on a daily basis, informs analysts of required corrections ensuring completion in a timely manner.

                                              Enforces safety and cGMP polices within the laboratory.

                                              Ensures that staff is properly trained and comprehends all updated GTP's, SOP's, GSOP’s and test methods.

                                              Initiates and conducts laboratory OOS investigations; initiates NOLE's, Phase I's, Phase II's and LTA's when required.

                                              Writes and/or updates SOP's and GTP's as needed.

                                              May provide information required to prepare laboratory budget and administers laboratory operations to maintain expenses, within approved budget. Assuring all required materials
                                              are available.

                                              Ensures the Laboratory PM Calibration System is updated to avoid delays on testing and assures reliability of results. Assures that system/environmental/cleaning samples are collected according to established procedures scheduled for testing, according to priorities and results evaluated on time to avoid product process to be affected.

                                              Evaluates the performances of staff members and recommends promotion as appropriate.
                                              Knowledge of :

                                              Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other regulatory requirements.

                                              Various laboratory equipment including HPLC's, pH meters, moisture apparatuses and balances.

                                              Personal computers including Microsoft Office and lab-calc programs.

                                              Principles of supervision and training of personnel.

                                              Techniques of recruitment, interviewing and selecting applicants for employment.

                                              Principles of safety, workers’ compensation and related principles and practices. English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.

                                              Personal computer operations and Microsoft applications
                                              Skill in:

                                              Implementing goals, objectives and practices for effective, efficient and cost effective management of allocated resources.

                                              Analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, and implementing recommendations for resolution of problems.

                                              Ensuring compliance with all Company policies and procedures.

                                              Handling multiple projects and tasks.

                                              Responding to common inquiries or complaints from internal customers or members of Watson management.

                                              Personal computer operations.

                                              Directing and coordinating the work of professional, technical and clerical personnel; selecting, supervising, training and evaluating staff, and functioning as team leader, coach and mentor.

                                              Communicating clearly and concisely, in English, both orally and in writing.

                                              Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
                                              Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Chemistry, Biology or a related field and a minimum of three (3) – five (5) years laboratory experience, preferably in pharmaceutical environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
