Summary of Job Duties
The Surgery Aide assists the surgical team in the preparation of surgical procedures in the operating room and in providing care to surgical patients under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse. Assists the circulating nurse in providing a safe environment for the patient. Performs a variety of technical skills including the maintenance of supplies, assists with patient positioning for procedures and preoperative patient shaves as directed. Assumes responsibility for knowledge of and adherence to approved Unit Structure Standards and Generic Nursing Structure Standards. Demonstrates an awareness of and assumes self-responsibility for proactive within the prescribed performance standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written)
Ability to handle stressful situations and respond appropriately
Ability to organize and prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth, rapidly changing environment
CNA or minimum of six months hospital experience preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent certification
Must possess Current American Heart Association BLS or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Certification
Works well with others in a team-orientated environment, including support of other co-workers’ job duties in a manner that further advances the goals and objectives of the whole organization
