This position if responsible for the following, which is not an all inclusive summary.

Accountable for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP).

Coordinate the program implementation and quality initiatives with the assigned surgeons.

Develop quality initiatives which will prevent complications, reduce costs, and improve surgical care while meeting data aquisition and transmission protocol requirements for the ACS NSQIP.

Assess the economic impact of plans for change; Explore opportunities for change and envisions the best positive, collaborative, and successful outcome.

Design implementation plans which sustain reduction of postoperative mortality, complication rates, and disparities of care.

Participate in the ACS NSQIP regional and virtual collaborative to: compare results and experiences, learn from other hospitals, share best practices, and network.

Participate in regular audits, conducted by ACS NSQIP staff to test data reliability and quality.

Collect, analyze and continuously monitor data to support the surgical services team to gain an accurate comparison of their quality performance against benchmarks from similar regional and national organizations.


NYS RN. Master of Science in Nursing required with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Doctoral degree preferred. May consider other health care professional with at least 3 years experience in clinical review. Quality improvement or a related field preferred. Working knowledge of NSQIP requirements, regulatory standards, and evidence based practice guidelines.
