Position Summary: Participates in the process of instrument and supply management from procurement to distribution. Graduate of an approved Surgical Support course, or Surgical Technician Program desired. Position Expectations and Responsibilities: Expected to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos Expected to have basic mathematical skills. Expected to have knowledge of hospital computer system as it relates to the case cart system.

Expected to clean and sterilize instruments according to AORN and AAMI standards. Expected to perform all phases of surgical case cart assembly. Expected to perform on-call duties as assigned. Expected to maintain instruments in proper working order.

Expected to assume responsibility for the establishment and maintenance of sterility. Expected to maintain sterilization logs. Expected to participate in the inventory of instruments and supplies. Expected to to write simple correspondence.

Expected to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Minimum Education and/or Experience Required: One year certificate from college or technical school OR Three to six months related experience and/or training. Licensure/Regulation/Certification: N/A * Incumbent may be required to perform emergency duty before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency, crisis situation or disaster (man-made or natural) including evacuation sites. *The person in this position will work in a smoke-free location, and is expected to adhere to all smoking restrictions.
