Job Summary:
Provides and maintains sterile supplies and instruments for surgical procedures. Coordinates and assists with preparing Case Carts, ordering, receiving, storing and controlling distribution of instruments and supplies. Works closely with SPD and O.R. to facilitate and maintain smooth and timely flow of instruments and supplies. Responsible for maintaining surgical supply portion of Lawson and Horizon Surgical Manager systems. Compiles information needed for charge master on new items (ie; price, description and charge unit) and presents to Surgical Supply Module Coordinator. Maintains inventory, enters purchase orders, price discrepancies in HSM and Lawson for all Surgical Services (OR, CVOR & RDS). Reconciles charges comparing what was charged to what was actually used. Acts as liaison between Surgical Services and ancillary departments. Works closely with Surgical Support Scheduling Manager, scheduling as a resource and the O.R. Manager. May be asked to scrub and set up procedures, assist surgeon by passing instruments and anticipating needs during course of surgical intervention. When called in while on call and/or working weekend shift may act as O. R. Service Aide or Surgical Tech in addition to case cart responsibilities which include environmental sanitation, transports, assisting in positioning patients, assisting Operating Room staff in securing equipment and supplies, acting as unit courier and performs surgical shave/preps. Clinical care is provided as required by unit specific patient population and in accordance with the vision, mission, goals and values of the organization.

Knowledge & Skills Required:
Basic computer skills
Knowledge of surgical procedures and medical equipment

Education & Experience Required:
Completion of a formal surgical technician program
One year experience as a CST preferred

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration Required:
Must possess current Florida certification as a Surgical Technician or obtain with one year

Physical Demands for Essential Functions of the Job:
Ability to bend, reach and lift boxes, equipment, etc. up to 50% of work time and lift varying weights up to 50 pounds and push equipment up to 350 pounds
Ability to wear respirator in exposure situations and according to department specific protocols
