Survey Technician (Utility/Engineering)

The City of Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Department is seeking a Survey Technician to join the Survey Section of the CMUD Design and Construction Division. CMUD is one of the largest public water and sewer service providers in the Southeast. We value competent, skilled candidates with a service focus to work in a team environment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will serve as a vital member of the Survey Section and work closely with other Divisions of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities’ Engineering Department.
Must have a minimum of 2 year’s experience working on a survey party performing water and sewer route surveys, construction surveys, boundary surveys, and control surveys. Must have experience operating electronic survey instruments, data collectors, survey grade GPS systems in utility and route surveying. Be familiar with Trimble software and systems. Candidate must have knowledge of the principles and practices of land surveying and mathematics as applied to surveying. Knowledge of the existing CMUD Design Standards and System a plus.
Requires high school graduation (two year Surveying Technology, Geography, Engineering, or related field degree a plus.)
