The Sustainability and Technical Compliance Manager is responsible for using proactive advocacy to create a sustainable future for the Forest Products Division. This role is the primary owner of the sustainability process for the division ensuring that a sound sustainability strategy is developed, implemented and continuously improved. This role is also the primary representative for the division on various North American engineered wood and panel market code organizations. The focus is to ensure that the division’s product line offerings meet all the North American code requirements and advocate for the implementation of high quality standards and specifications.

Job Responsibilities
Process and Data Ownership
·


Owns and improves the sustainability process.
·
Over time migrates the sustainability process from an EHS focus toward a proactive strategic business focus.
·
Develops and maintains sustainability metric tracking systems.
·
Produces and maintains documents that address customer requests for sustainability metrics and life cycle analysis data.
·
Utilize software systems to calculate life cycle analysis data.
·
Develops and implements a system for evaluating new project/products on how they improve the sustainability position of the division.
·
Maintain an online internal clearinghouse for sustainability research, white papers and industry-specific information.
·
Investigates and compiles a list of trade groups and code organizations that are relevant to the division.
·
Develops and maintains a current portfolio of product certifications for each business unit.
Internal and External Representation
·


Participate on the corporate sustainability steering committee.
·
Lead the divisional sustainability steering committee.
·
Represent the division through participation in the various code and standard technical committees to ensure gainful insight to industry activities. These will include ASTM and NAHB committees.
·
Represent the division with the United States Green Building Council, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) organization and California Air Resource Board (CARB).
·
Represent the division at various trade shows and conferences.
Internal and External Communication
·


Advise the divisional President, Vice Presidents and business unit managers about corporate sustainability policies, global trends and competitive sustainability activity.
·
Advise the divisional President, Vice Presidents and business unit managers about technical committee, code organization and other relevant organization activity to improve the strategic positioning of the division’s product lines.
·
Participate in the development of the corporate sustainability report.
·
Monitor Momentive’s external communication channels that target sustainability communications (website, brochures, videos).
·
Support advocacy efforts through presentations to specific market groups, trade associations, conferences or customer sites.
·
Communicate with customers to ensure that they have visibility to industry issues.
Product Stewardship
·


Ensure that the products offered by the division to specific customers meet the testing requirements for various structural and non-structural applications.
·
Support chemical-specific advocacy (ie: Formaldehyde).
Organizational Relationships:

Works closely with: EHS, Manufacturing, Silicone Quartz Division, Epoxy Phenolics Coating Division.

Preferred Qualifications

Education Requirements

Bachelors Degree in a related field
Physical/Other Requirements

Candidates are required to have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. If currently a Momentive employee, you must have current satisfactory work performance and in most cases, have been in your current role 18 months.
