Responsible for City Hall reception and switchboard duties.
Receive and direct citizens and customers to appropriate destination
Takes a lead role in maintaining/improving customer service levels
Must maintain a professional demeanor in the face of any and all pressure and deal with difficult customer situation and complaints successfully
Receive and transfer incoming calls to the main switchboard; provide information to the public and City of Denton employees; handle information requests
Assist visitors, route incoming correspondence and provide routine assistance.
Maintain phone system database and updates as needed
Routinely provide assistance to other departments, citizens or council members at the direction of the division manager
Prepare cumulative reports from source documents as needed
Order office supplies as needed
Prepare purchase requisition and receivers.
Sorts/distributes interoffice and postal mail and logs council mail.
Assist division supervisor and manager as needed
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to get along with customers and co-workers
Regular and punctual attendance Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned
High School Diploma or GED equivalency
Two years of full-time experience in a responsible customer service position involving public customer contact, typing, preparing reports, and filing
Experience in handling a multi-line phone system OR
Associate’s degree in Secretarial Science from an accredited college or university with one year of responsible secretarial experience
Must have a valid Class “C” Driver’s License prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license within 30 days of hire per state law)
Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
Must have personal transportation to run errands
