OVERVIEW With the opening of our new office in Silicon Valley, CableLabs is seeking a unique individual who will be key for our Systems Evaluation and IT support.
The System and IT Engineer is responsible for the installation, configuration management and system integration for all Systems Evaluation and onsite IT initiatives. This individual will work closely with CableLabs engineers, vendors and visiting engineers to ensure that CableLabs Silicon Valley has the needed configuration and functionality to support development efforts. Working with various project teams and vendors, the System and IT Engineer will determine new requirements and come up with solutions and designs to support new capabilities in our Silicon Valley labs. This individual is responsible for working with our Colorado-based IT team to provide end user and IT infrastructure support, including end user computing applications, network connectivity, the use of video conferencing, and multimedia systems.
We are seeking someone who is comfortable in both a lab and an end user computing environment with exceptional customer service skills, strong problem solving skills and the ability to analyze various hardware and software issues. RESPONSIBILITIES TEST Operate existing automated test and create new test environments for development purposes including lab setup, test tool operation, explanation of operation and documentation. Work with product manufacturers to assist with the installation, configuration, testing and development of their products based on the associated facilities and test tools. Evaluate new test tools and processes for continued refinement and improvement of testing and interop capabilities.
Work with CableLabs groups to determine new capabilities needed to support new development and testing requirements. Contribute to local interoperability, development and certification events. IT SUPPORT Provide end user computing support for Windows 7, Mac OS X, Office 2010, and Wi-Fi wired network access. Provide Unified Communications support for Lync 2013 collaboration (video, voice, IM, screensharing), and Lync enterprise voice utilizing Polycom handsets and wireless headsets.
Provide onsite computer room support for installing servers and network equipment, cable connectivity, and basic IP network connectivity troubleshooting. Provide support for meetings and events utilizing Lync Online Meetings video conferencing utilizing Polycom RealPresence and Cisco Telepresence, 3rd party audio conferencing and video bridging services, and meeting room multi-media setup and configuration. OTHER Support all cable network headend equipment and application servers including development of new technologies (network architecture, equipment, protocols). Team with the SE lab organization provide network architecture, design, planning and execution for certification, interop and other lab initiatives.
Expand lab capabilities and events to incorporate cloud-based video streaming and data services, and support virtual interops. Configure and run digital video headend equipment, network equipment, network management of interoperability and certification events. Document and track detailed configuration of the lab environment. Assist with demonstrations and shows as needed.
REQUIREMENTS BSEE, BSCN, BSCS or related 4-year degree or comparable demonstrated experience. Previous experience with Windows support, MS Office software and AV video conferencing services. Ability to comprehend complex integration and test plans and work effectively in an individual environment. 3-5 years of experience in IT and engineering support roles working with individuals in various groups across company locations.
Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, communications and planning skills required. Exceptional customer service and communication skills. Willing to travel 10 PREFERRED Cable telecommunications support including telecommunication systems, test equipment and processes, IP network design, OSS and project management. MAC end user support.
