Position : System Administrator (Windows Servers 2003 / IIS / Linux)

Duration : 6 months Contract to Full Time Hire
The selected candidates will work as part of an established and collaborative development and design team to support the creation and maintenance of mission-critical web-based software applications and high visibility/ high demand websites. Candidates will work on multiple related projects at any given time. Daily tasks include managing Web servers, Web Application servers, and Database servers running primarily under a Windows environment. This environment includes both the development and production environments that support the clients extensive website infrastructure.
Candidates should have 4 - 8 years of experience in web related system administration. The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems and related infrastructure for the websites managed by the Federal Government client. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. The individual will assist project teams with technical issues in any necessary Initiation and Planning for full system implementation and maintenance. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out of solutions.
Other tasks include user, system, and application troubleshooting, general server maintenance, and ongoing analysis. Daily system monitoring, verification of system integrity and the ongoing availability of all hardware are all essential parts of this role. Additionally, the candidate will perform ongoing performance tuning and resource optimization as required.
Previous experience with Windows Servers 2003 and 2008, IIS 6 and IIS 7, and to a much lesser extent, Linux, is highly desirable. Experience with the Google Search Appliance, Microsoft Project server, or LSofts Listserv packages are all pluses. Moderate experience with configuring and implementing websites to leverage an Akamai solution as the CDN is favorable. Experience with cloud based web hosting (such as Amazons EC2 environment) is highly desirable.
Candidates must be team oriented, have strong written and oral communications, client contact skills, and a keen interest in development. Selected candidates will be required to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
